Heavenly beaches and superb vistas await hikers who venture along the Chemin des Anses du Nord (2hr 30min-3hr round trip). In former times, the path enabled carts and carriages to travel between Le Prêcheur and Grand'Rivière, but today it is dotted only with ruins. Instead, the show is elsewhere: the coves Anse Couleuvre, Anse Lévrier and its traces of sugar plantation and Anse à Voile can be enjoyed peacefully, as this unspoilt coast is relatively deserted. Be very careful if you go swimming. Walking with a guide is recommended.
