Joan of Arc's church
De Groene Gids
De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
This handsome building was originally the Gothic Coëffort Hospital that Henry II of England founded in 1180 to expiate the murder of Thomas Becket, archbishop of Canterbury. Used to house the sick and orphans for centuries, it became a church in 1923. Behind the austere façade lies a huge triple-nave hall, crowned with elegant Plantagenet vaulting (13m/42ft high), resting on slender columns with finely carved capitals.
