This small manmade hillock (8.4m above sea level) is made of ballast, dropped by boats over the centuries, and sand dug out of the harbour. Trees were planted in 1761, and it now commands fine views of Le Tréhic harbour and jetty (858m long) and Pen Bron dyke. A monument sculpted by René Paris in 1913 is a reminder of the feat performed by a helmsman called Hervé Rielle, who rescued 22 vessels of the French Navy after the La Hougue disaster in 1692.
