Galion Factory
De Groene Gids
De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
It is undeniable that a Hindu temple in the midst of a Martinique estate can seem incongruous. Such however is the sight at the Galion sugar factory, a testimony to the presence of Indian coolies on the island after the abolition of slavery. The estate belonged to Eugène Eustache who bought it in 1849, joining forces with engineer Émile Bougenot, to build this sugar factory, still in operation. The latter's influence on the local sugar economy was to be decisive.
