Between La Salette-Village and Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette, the road climbs quickly opposite the majestic Obiou peak. It was here that the Virgin appeared before two children in 1846, making the basilica a focal point for Marian pilgrimages (150 to 200,000 visitors/year).
