The handsome classical edifice of the former residence of the marshals of France, which stands proudly on the banks of the Cosson, dates back to the 16C-17C. The castle was revived in the late 20C and is now open to the public. The richly appointed sitting rooms and bedrooms seem to have changed little and some even boast period furnishings. Much however must still be done before the castle is restored to its past glory, without counting the flood of the River Cosson in 2016 that beset the castle.
