Kosgoda, along the west Sri Lankan coast, is the main hatching site of several species of turtles. Organisations protect the nesting site so that the turtles can reproduce in peace, thanks to brooding nests. Observation nights take place from January to May. Do not listen to some of the more unscrupulous tour organisers who may invite you to play with the young turtles, who can make their way to the water very well all by themselves and do not require your help!
