Niiyama Shrine and Kunenan
De Groene Gids
De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
Devoted to the gods of mountains and agriculture, the Niiyama Shinto shrine enjoys a magnificent location surrounded by ancient maple trees. Below, next to the great tori, stands an 800-year-old camphor tree. A little further back, the traditional architecture of the Kunenan residence (early 20C) of a local businessman, Itami Yataro, also catches the eye. In autumn, the sight of the maple trees turning red attracts over 800,000 visitors.
