This luxurious samurai residence with a dark-brown wooden exterior belonged to Nomura Denbei Nobusada, one of Lord Maeda Toshiie's most trusted lieutenants in the 16C. Twelve successive generations of the Nomura family lived here up to the Meiji period, enhancing the beauty of the house with a delightful ornamental garden complete with miniature waterfall. Added at a later date, the Jodan no ma, or drawing room, boasts magnificent latticework and carved mahogany, ebony and cypress coffers.
