The small village of Ják is home to a splendid Romanesque abbey church, which is famous for the sculptures on its façade. Begun in 1220, the building has undergone numerous restorations, the most important of which was carried out between 1896 and 1904 by the architect Frigyes Schulek. Near the church is the chapel of St James which dates from the same period.
