It is the enormous blocks of granite polished by time that lend character to Sand Harbor, on the shore of Lake Tahoe. The landscape is full of charm, calling to mind a curious blend of extreme-north landscapes and Corsican or Breton creeks. You can picnic along the shore and swim in the clear water (the lake is shallow here), as the cove is sheltered.
