A vast area of greenery on the lower slopes of Victoria Peak, Hong Kong Park makes a peaceful haven in which to escape from the maze of high-rise buildings of the Central and Wan Chai districts. Opened in 1991, the park is often used for wedding celebrations (there is a very long waiting list). Hong Kong's older inhabitants practise Tai Chi here, while the pools, filled with koi carp, are popular with young children. The park is home to two interesting sights: the Museum of Tea Ware and the Edward Youde Aviary, which boasts more than 800 bird species.
