Set in a bay that was the stomping ground of Tanka and Hoklo fishermen before British colonisation, Aberdeen is the second largest urban area of Hong Kong Island. Surrounded by concrete high-rises, its port is an attraction with its dozens of fishing boats, which can be discovered on board a sampan, all that remains of the floating village. A recurrent backdrop in Hong Kong cinema, the floating restaurants are not only made of pulp board, but the quality is no longer as reliable as it used to be.
