Tomb of Postman Cheval's Ideal Palace
De Groene Gids
De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
The Tomb of Silence and Eternal Rest is the final work of the postman and builder of the Ideal Palace, Ferdinand Cheval, who died in 1924 after working tirelessly all his life. Bearing a cross and the letters JMJ (presumably standing for Jesus-Mary-Joseph), the tomb displays a higher degree of miniaturist work than is to be found in the Ideal Palace, which is decorated with shells. The bodies of the postman and his family are interred here.
