A number of beautiful religious buildings, such as Quan Thanh Temple, stand on the shores of the West Lake and the White Silk Lake, which are separated by the Road of Youth. These buildings are now surrounded by exclusive houses which has been built in the area since the late 1990s. These modern buildings, many of which are inspired by Hollywood or Walt Disney, have engulfed many of the peaceful old villages and are gradually encroaching upon the lake.
