Port Grimaud
De Groene Gids

Praktische informatie

In 1966, architect François Spoerry (1912-99) founded a lakeside town on a marshy area of land. It was intended for sailors, so each house was equipped with a mooring ring: Port Grimaud, now a listed 20C Heritage site, was born. The houses are inspired by Mediterranean villages, and the gates of the city have a fortified appearance. From the top of the tower of the Église St François d'Assise (a modern, sober church, with stained-glass windows by Vasarely), there is a fine view over the city, the Gulf of St Tropez and the Maure mountains.
