Gothenburg's Stadsmuseum is housed in the former offices and warehouses of the Swedish India Company (1750-62), an impressive complex that is of great architectural and historical interest in itself. The exhibition here is centred around the history of the city and its region and includes period interiors, furniture, domestic utensils, costumes, arts and crafts, and Oriental porcelain, as well as a fine collection of Viking exhibits.
