Jack London Historic Park, near Sonoma, is the estate where the writer, journalist and adventurer spent the last years of his life. He died here in 1916, at the age of 40. His widow had the House of Happy Walls built here; personal effects, photographs and the letters of the author of Martin Eden have been collected here. Bucolic paths crisscross the site, leading to the cottage where Jack London wrote and to the couple's tomb. Take a picturesque break in the Jack London Saloon (1905), at the exit to the park.
