First mentioned in 961, the collegiate church of St Cyriacus has many of the typical features of the Ottonian style, including a basilica layout with three aisles, a flat ceiling and upper galleries. The crypt is one of the first examples of this type of construction in Germany. In the transept crossing, note the funerary plaque of the convent's founder, Margrave Gero. The Holy Sepulchre in the southern side aisle is a fine and rare example of Romanesque sculpture.
