The Porto Antico (old port), part of the largest port in Italy which extends over almost 30km from Piazza Caricamento, has become one of Genoa's most popular meeting places. It is dominated by the Bigo, a metallic structure designed by Renzo Piano, which has a panoramic lift offering stunning views of the city. To the west, the medieval lighthouse watches over a modern complex of industrial containers and shipyards.
