It is impossible to miss the distinctive two-tone façade, whose white roughcast rendering contrasts with red tuff stone. Built in the late 15C, it was the first Portuguese cathedral to be built overseas. Inside, the contrast between the white Gothic arcades, underscored by basalt and the Capela Do Santisimo, overladen with gold, is striking. However, the edifice's pride and joy is definitely the remarkable Mudejar ceiling made out of cedar wood inlaid with ivory.
