Various municipal and religious buildings stand facing the southern side of the church, including the Archbishop's Palace with its fine wrought-iron balcony, and the Historisches Kaufhaus, a Gothic-style merchants' house in red roughcast, flanked by watchtowers with pointed roofs and decorated with glazed tiles. Another splendid feature of the square is the Wentzingerhaus, which houses a history museum.
