Built in 1892, the oldest art museum in Texas is now one of the largest modern-art facilities in the US. A new concrete-and-glass building with 53,000sq ft of gallery space, designed by Tadao Ando, uses skylights and clerestory windows to bring natural light inside. The collection offers a representative sampling of 20C artists, including Picasso, Rothko, Pollock, Warhol, Basquiat and Lichtenstein.
