Occupying the former archbishop's palace (16C), the Évora Museum presents works of art and archaeological artefacts. Particularly noteworthy are the cenotaph (16C) of Bishop Afonso do Portugal, a fine marble sarcophagus from 1364, paintings by Francisco Henriques, official painter to King Dom Manuel, and by Gregório Lopes, in which the influence of Mannerism can be seen. The religious art section includes 13 works from the cathedral's old Flemish altarpiece.
