The lovely, very hilly forest of Élan (872ha) stretches from the west of Sedan to the southeast of Charleville-Mézières. It encircles a narrow vale that is framed by steep slopes and meadows. Tucked away in this forest of oak and beech trees, the former Cistercian abbey of Élan makes an ideal destination for an excursion.
