The fine ruins, in the shadows of what remains of the keep, belong to Dundrum Castle, a 13C Norman building. Its dominant position made it an ideal observation point for watching ships heading towards the Lecale Peninsula and Strangford Lough. The site commands astounding views over Dundrum Bay and its lagoon, to the north, as well as over the majestic outline of the Mourne Mountains to the south.
