De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
The Royal Hospital Kilmainham, built between 1608 and 1684, has since 1991 housed the Museum of Modern Art. The hospital was commissioned by James Butler, Duke of Ormond, Lord Lieutenant from 1669 and inspired by Les Invalides in Paris. Architect William Robinson designed four ranges of buildings around a courtyard, housing 300 veterans (in use until 1929). Today, the Great Hall (north wing) makes a fine setting for government receptions. Note the chapel's Baroque ceiling (copy of the original).
