The remains of the city of Dendera, which prospered during the Ptolemaic period, consist of the ruins of a few dwelling places and, bringing together culture and the desert, a majestic temple encircled by a large brick wall. Although ignored by the tourist circuit, this was one of the last hubs of Ancient Egyptian civilisation. Standing petrified and alone, the superb temple dedicated to the goddess Hathor today exudes a certain melancholy.
