The vast Dallas Museum of Art houses a stunning and truly comprehensive collection. It covers arts of the Americas, from prehistory, via the Spanish and British colonial periods, up to 20C Texas, but also 19C and 20C European painting and sculpture, with masterpieces by Manet, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Picasso, Rodin, Moore and Oldeburg, to name but a few. Its contemporary gallery is equally sumptuous, presenting paintings by Rothko, Pollock, Motherwell, Warhol and Diebenkorn.
