On the scenic road between Funchal and Curral das Freiras, leave your car at the carpark of the Estalagem Eira do Serrado Hotel and take the path (a little over a hundred steps) to a viewing platform. The view of the village of Curral das Freiras, nestling in an isolated valley amid a mountainous cirque of steep slopes, is matchless.
