Fortified in the 16C, the Église St Pierre in Collonges-la-Rouge originally dates from the 11C and 12C. It still has some vestiges of its defensive architecture, such as the great square keep, which has a defence room and adjoins a wall walk. However, its originality is down to the tympanum, which is thought to be the work of sculptors from the Toulouse School and depicts the Ascension. The 12C church tower is a good example of the Limousin Romanesque style.
