The "new" cathedral was part of the college of Jesuits of the Eleven Thousand Virgins. Its façade has two levels, one on top of the other. Note the four alcoves of the lower section, which accommodate statues of the saints of the Society of Jesus. The huge interior has an imposing giltwood retable and a magnificent silver throne.
