Tucked away in the valley bottom, the village of Cisnadioara is dominated by the church of St Michael, sited atop a rocky outcrop rising to a height of around 100m. From the main square (parking), a path leads to the Romanesque church, recorded as early as 1223 and consequently one of the nation's oldest. Surrounded by a circular wall with an entrance flanked by towers, it retains a fine gateway with sober carving (to the left).
