These late-19C and early-20C structures have a colourful history. First used by printing and other book-related industries, the buildings were then abandoned and some stood empty for years. In the late 1970s, they were the object of an ambitious restoration project, and "Printer's Row" is now a coveted residential area. At no 720, the Second Franklin Building, with its colourful terracotta panels depicting the various stages in manufacturing a book, has lofts and shops.
