De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
Rouillé d'Orfeuil, steward from 1764-1789, had this triumphal gate (1769-70) dedicated to Marie-Antoinette, wife-to-be of the future Louis XVI. It was then was called Porte Dauphine. Ironically, Marie-Antoinette returned to Châlons 21 years later, in less triumphal circumstances after the failed "flight to Varennes". It was renamed the Porte Sainte-Croix at the Revolution. The decor (town side) was never finished.
