De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
The main entrance to Carcassonne was the only one wide enough for wagons to pass through. A small crenellated castle, built on the bridge over the moat, and a barbican with arrow slits, precede the two Narbonne towers that flank the main gate. These massive buttressed constructions were intended to repel attackers or deviate projectiles (temporary exhibitions inside).
