It was built from 1872 to 1876 by a French company using the plans by Ernest Gouin. It is made up by two arms joined together at the height of Marguerite Isle at an angle of 150°. The statues of the pillars are attributed to the Thabart Paris workshop. Superb view over the Danube spanned by the bridge of the Chains: to the right, the Royal castle of Buda and the Church of Mathias, to the left, Pest and the Parliament. In the distance, the outline of mount Gellért and the Liberation monument.
