The Church of St Gallus stands tall and proud opposite the fortified town. To the front, it has a 15C sandstone porch and bell tower, crowned by a Baroque scalloped gable; inside, it has a single surbased nave from the 18C. The finely worked marquetry of the walnut stalls, carried out for the nearby Mehrerau Abbey in about 1740, has contoured backs decorated with effigies of saints.
