With its quiet and narrow cobbled streets, Bragança's medieval town, standing on top of a hill and surrounded by its long, fortified walls and towers, has an atmosphere from bygone days. For the best view of it, head to the Pousada de São Bartolomeu (2km southeast) or the belvedere of the neighbouring chapel.
