At the crossroads of pedestrian streets, thanks to the cafés and restaurants lining its sides, Place Gordaine is one of the liveliest places in town. In the middle of the square is the "shouting stone": legend has it that Calvin stood here to harangue the crowd and advocate the Reformation. Some of the houses lean against the Gallo-Roman rampart.
