Once the site of an Anasazi village thought to have had at least 200 inhabitants in the 11C and 12C, Salmon Ruins is named after the Native American family who settled here in the late 19C. Archaeological research suggests that the village was one of a network linked to Chaco Canyon. The museum houses items found during excavation, including jars, arrow fragments, pottery, bone tools and pieces of clay. Just below the hill, visitors can see the Salmon family house and a reconstruction of Native American dwellings.
