This large park near the Kulturforum and Potsdamer Platz was laid out in the late 17C by Elector Frederick III and later redesigned by Frederick the Great. Today the Tiergarten is considered to be the lungs of the city. Thanks to some 32km/20mi of paths, lawns ideal for sunbathing and picnics and its lakeside Biergärten, the park is a haven of greenery greatly loved by Berliners.
