This fine bridge (1821-24) designed by Schinkel was built to replace the "Dog's Bridge", a simple wooden structure which, in the 17C, served as a meeting point for hunters and their dogs prior to hunts in the Tiergarten. The statues of warriors guided by the Victories are perhaps overly grand, but the bronze reliefs, Tritons and sea horses which adorn the parapet are faultlessly elegant.
