The funicular, in operation since 1918, takes passengers from the town centre up to the top of Mount Fløyen (320m above sea level). The panoramic views over the town and islands make the trip worthwhile; it is also complemented by a stroll through the woods that carpet the flanks of Mount Fløyen. Take the forest paths back down to reach the streets lined with villas and their flower-decked gardens.
