Named after an illustrious Texas lieutenant governor, this sunset-red expanse of granite, faces a 35ft-tall bronze star and the six flags of Texas. It is home to an IMAX theater and three floors of exhibits devoted to the state's geography, history and culture. The visit is rich and instructive. Don't miss the temporary exhibits which are often of a very high quality.
