The workshops of santon-makers and ceramicists can be found in the compact historic centre of Aubagne which lies within its old fortified walls, of which all that remains is the Porte Gachiou. Note the unusual triangular bell tower of the late-17C Chapelle de l'Observance, the wrought-iron campanile crowning the Tour de l'Horloge, and the Baroque façade of the Chapelle des Pénitents Noirs along the Chemin de St-Michel.
