In 1980 Atlanta entrepreneur Ted Turner launched the Cable News Network (CNN), the first 24-hour cable news station. The huge CNN Center is the headquarters of the group and its various networks. An impressive atrium here houses cafes, fast-food outlets and shops, frequented by tourists and the station's employees. Studio tours show visitors the inner workings of the network and allows access to a glassed-in gallery where visitors can watch CNN reporters and newscasters at work.
