The craftsmen of this kiln have been using the techniques of their grand master, Kizaemon Sakaida (17C), for 15 generations, and in particular the ingenious Akae process of enamel decoration on porcelain. The white background colour varies between a bright white to off-white depending on the colour of the earth used. The quality and detail of the coloured enamel decorative work quickly appealed to Western courts. Two exhibition halls, one of which is a salesroom, and a lovely garden.
