A designated Biosphere Reserve, the Bárdenas Reales Natural Park, a 42 500ha, semi-desert area, has extraordinary landscapes made up of vast plains, ravines, hillocks and steppes and is home to wildlife. It is divided into three areas: to the south, the Bárdena Negra with a relief formed of plateaux and ravines; in the centre, the Bárdena Blanca with the incredible Cabezo de las Cortinillas belvedere; to the north, El Plano, land given over to cereal farming.
