The symbol of Archidona is its square, which was designed in the 18C and is named after its octagonal plan. In addition to its purely Andalusian features, it contains elements of a French town planning style, namely red brick arches and pillars, white walls and flower-filled balconies. The square used to serve as a plaza de toros (bullring).
